Stash FAQs

Why use Silicone instead of Plastics?

Silicone is arguably more environmentally friendly than plastic in kitchen applications. It is more inert and durable than plastic, which means it has a lower chance of leaching chemicals into food when used for food storage. It doesn't change flavours or release odours that might affect food quality. It is also a safer alternative to non-stick cookware treated with perfluorooctanoic acid. Silicone is believed to have low toxicity and better thermal stability. It is resistant to damage and degradation from extreme temperatures; transferring easily from freezer to microwave. It doesn’t harden, crack, peel, crumble, dry out, rot, or become brittle over time.

Why is Stash’s Lid made of Silicone and not of plastic?

Food expands when it freezes, it is science. For us, it makes more sense to pair the tray with the same material. A flexible silicone lid is more practical and convenient. The tray and lid should be able to adapt to these physical changes without compromising the food quality, did I not mention silicone is more environment friendly?

Why spend too much for a tray?

Our competitive price is due for the following reasons:

  1. Quality: We would like to ensure that 100% high-quality food grade silicone material is used to make Stash Freezing and Baking Tray and Lid. We want it thick and durable so our product lasts longer and meets its intended use and purpose. It is not your average ice tray in the market that is thin and small. Stash is big, sturdy and can withstand extreme temperatures.

  2. Manufacturer: We have partnered with a well-certified factory that follows Good Manufacturing Practices. Each unit is made and thoroughly inspected by workers who are paid more than the minimum wage in China. In fact, even the manufacturer’s owner is involved in the inspections to ensure that each unit meets our quality requirements.

  3. Logistics: Stash Freezing and Baking Silicone Tray and Lid are bigger and heavier than the average silicone tray in the market. They cost more to transport from the factory to the warehouse and to your kitchen.

How do we use our Stash Freezing and Baking Silicone Tray?

Freezing food

Let your food creation cool first before placing and covering your Stash tray. This will prevent water build up on the lid which may affect the taste and quality of your food. Once cooled, place your Stash Tray flat in your freezer. Depending on your freezer temperature, it usually takes 24-72 hours for your food to freeze. When you are ready to use your food, take your Stash tray out from the freezer. Leave your Stash tray on your kitchen bench for a minute or so. This will help to release the frozen food from the tray easily. Slightly twist your tray and push the cube from the bottom of each section. You may transfer all your frozen cubes to a reusable and resealable storage bags to make room in your freezer. Label and place it back in the freezer. You have made your portioned food ready to use when you need them. Place your Stash Tray in your dishwasher to ready it for the next food creation.

Baking Tray

Stash Silicone Tray is oven safe up to 220°C/428°F. Follow the recipe’s temperature instruction. My optional tip is to “very lightly” grease the tray using a cooking tray. It will help your baked goods have a clean edge finish. It will also help to release your baking from the tray. Place your Stash tray on a baking sheet before placing it in the oven for stability and to prevent mixture to spill out when you transferring it to the oven. Once cooked, place the tray on your kitchen bench to cool down. Slightly twist and gently pull on the sides and roll out your baking. Never use any sharp or pointy objects when removing your frozen food or baking from the tray.
